1.consistent  adj.坚固的，坚实的；一致的，连贯的，始终如一的
【记】词根记忆：con+sist(站立)+ent，站在一起的--一致的
【例】You must insist that students give a truthful answer consistent with the reality of their world.

【用】consistent后面一般接with，表示“与…一致”。
【派】consistency（n．一贯，前后一致；稳定性；（液体的）浓度]

2.design  n.设计，图样，图案 v．计划，图谋，打算；构思设计
【记】联想记忆：de+sign(记号)--做记号--设计
【例】Unlike most sports, which evolved over time from street games, basketball was designed by one man to suit a particular purpose.

3.monrtor  n.显示屏，监护仪；监听员；班长 v．监听，监视

4.circumstance  n．[pl.]情况，情形；环境；[pl.]境况，境遇
【记】词根记忆：circ(环)+um+st(站)+ance（名词后缀）--环绕在周围的--环境
【例】under the circumstances Under the circumstances, Simon felt unable to accept the job.
在那种情况下，西蒙觉得无法接受这个工作。
under no circumstance:  Under no circumstances should we reveal our secret.
无论如何我们都不应该泄露秘密。

5.despite   prep.尽管，不顾，虽然 n.侮辱，伤害；恶意，怨恨

【例】The sports meet has been held despite the rain.

6.catalog(ue)  n．（图书或商品等的）目录 vt.为…编目录，把…编入目录

7.satirize   vt.讽刺，讥讽
