1.adjust  v．整顿，调整，安排；使适应于（新环境等）
【记】词根记忆：ad(表加强)+just(正确)--使正确--调整
【例】adjust“'I hope that you will soon adjust to this new environment.
我希望你能很快适应这种新环境。
【用】adjust to是“适应”的意思，可以跟adapt to对比记忆。
【派】adjustment(n．调整，调节)
【辨】adjust, regulate, adjust指把东西或人调整到准确、适当的位置或状态，也可以用来指调整好与其他事物的关系以适应一种需要，如：adjust oneself to new conditions; regulate通常指把某事物调节、维持或控制在需要的状态下，如：regulate the traffic。

2.payable  adj.应付的，可支付的

【例】The check is payable on demand.
这是一张即期付款的支票。：

3.accomplish  vt．完成，实现，达到（目的）
【记】联想记忆：ac+compl(看作complete，完成)+ish(使)--完成
【例】The whole process would be accomplished in a subtle way to avoid giving an impression of over-familiarity that would be likely to produce irritation。
整个过程应该以一种细致的方式来完成，以避免让人觉得太过亲密而引起愤怒。（2006）

4.satire  n.讥讽，讽刺作品；讥讽文体
【记】联想记忆：sati(饱足)+re--吃饱了没事干就讽刺别人--讥讽
【例】The writer's satire on the corruption of the government is quite popular.
那位作家关于政府腐败的讽刺作品很受欢迎。
【派】satirical( adj.含讽刺意味的，嘲讽的)
