1.weep   v．流泪，哭泣
【例】Relatives of a murdered 82-year-old woman broke down and wept as they appealed for help in catching her killer.
一名82岁被害妇女的亲属悲痛欲绝，哭泣着呼吁大家帮忙抓住凶手。

2.suppose  v．认定，假定；推测，猜想：认为
【记】词根记忆：sup+pose（提出）--提出猜想--猜想  
【例】Suppose a closed container partially filled with a liquid is heated. The liquid expands, or in other words, becomes less dense; some of it evaporates.
假设一个装有部分液体的密封容器被加热，里面的液体会膨胀，或者说密度会降低，还有一部分会蒸发。(2000)
【辨】suppose, presume, assume三个词都有“假设”的意思。suppose是根据一定现象推测出某假定或提出建议；presume强调假定某事是根据事实做出的推测；assume是毫无根据的假设，并非符合逻辑的推理。

3.sympathize  vi．同情，赞同，支持

【例】While I sympathize, I can't really do very much to help them out of the difficulties.

7.provisional   adj.暂时的，临时的

8.artificial   adj.人造的，人工的；假装的，不自然的

【辨】artificial，false, artificial特指人工仿造物，如：artificial flowers; false通常指假造的代替品，如：false teeth。
