1.suck   n./v.吸，啜，吮,咂
【例】The baby was sucking its mother's breast greedily．
婴儿贪婪地吮吸着母乳。

2.clarify  v．澄清，阐明；净化
【记】词根记忆：clar(清楚，明白)“fy(…化)--清楚化--澄清
【例】Would you please clarify your question?
请你把你的问题说清楚好吗？
【用】clarify相当于say... clearly，也就是把事情说清楚，通过某种途径阐明：

3.plausible  adj.（声明、争论等）似乎正确的；能说会道的
【记】词根记忆：plaus(打动)+ible--能打动人的--能说会道的
【例】The theory is a plausible explanation, but it has not been completely proved.
这个理论似乎是个正确的解释，但还没有被完全证实。

4.faint  adj.虚弱的，眩晕的；无力的，懦弱的；微弱的，模糊的；微小的，渺茫的 vt．昏厥，晕倒
【记】网上聊天常说的FT，就是faint的缩写，意为“晕倒”。
【例】A faint breeze fluttered through the room and the candlelight inside started to flicker.
一阵微风吹过房间，屋内的烛光开始摇曳起来。
The patient still felt quite faint after the surgery.
手术后，病人仍然感觉非常虚弱。

5.stroll  n./v.漫步，闲逛，邀游
【例】Anderson and Kathy strolled through the crowds eating cotton candy.
安德森和凯西吃着棉花糖，漫步穿过人群。

6.torture  n.拷问；折磨，痛苦 vt．拷问，拷打；使痛苦（苦恼）

【例】Those detained include a former navy captain and several other ex-officers suspected of torture or murder.

7.monotonous adj.单调的，无变化的，令人厌倦的
